Business name: Sarah Jenkins Strategy
Industry: Digital Marketing Consulting
Company background: I’m an independent marketing consultant who recently left a big agency to start taking on my own freelance clients. Because I’m just starting out on my own, I need a personal profile site to establish my professional credibility and give people a place to find me after networking events. Target audience Small to medium-sized business owners in the Western Cape who need help with high-level marketing strategy but can’t afford full-time agency retainers.
Business goals: To book 2–3 solid freelance consulting meetings per month.
Primary website goals: To serve as a modern, professional digital business card and to generate email inquiries.
Secondary goals: To build my personal authority so I look established and trustworthy, not just like a random freelancer operating out of a garage.
Target geographic market: Mostly local businesses in Cape Town and Worcester, though I’m open to remote clients in the UK as well.
Competitors (3–5):
– Jane Doe Marketing Solutions
– Smith Digital Consulting
– Cape Marketing Pros
Brand personality: Professional, approachable, modern, and no-nonsense.
Existing branding (logo, colours, fonts if any): I just have a basic text logo right now. For colors, I was thinking a nice navy blue and maybe a pop of mustard yellow? I don’t really know much about fonts, so whatever you think looks clean and professional is fine with me.
Pages required: I just need 1 homepage, an About section, and a Contact section. I’m not sure if this should all just be on one long scrolling page or separate pages—I’ll leave that up to your expertise!
Features required: A simple, reliable way for potential clients to send me a message directly from the website.
Functional requirements: A working contact form that I don’t have to check manually.
Content the client already has: I have a professional headshot and a rough draft of my “About Me” bio ready to go.
Content that still needs to be created: The main introductory text for the homepage and whatever small bits of copy are needed for the contact area.
Images available: Just my headshot. You might need to pull some nice stock photos for the background or other sections to make it look complete.
Any integrations required: Please just make sure the contact form emails go straight to my Gmail address.
SEO expectations: If someone types “Sarah Jenkins Marketing” into Google, I want to show up on the first page eventually.
Accessibility expectations: Make sure the text is large enough to read easily and there is good contrast.
Mobile expectations: It absolutely must be mobile responsive. Most of the people I meet at networking events will be pulling my site up on their phones right away.
Performance expectations: It shouldn’t take a long time to load. People are impatient.
Budget: I have a limited startup budget right now, ideally looking to keep this around R5,000 to R8,000.
Deadline: I have a big networking conference coming up, so I’d love this to be live in about 2 to 3 weeks.
Technical constraints: I’m not a tech person at all. I don’t want to have to fiddle with anything technical once it’s done.
Success criteria: When I hand out my business card, I feel proud knowing people are visiting my URL, and the contact form works flawlessly without me having to troubleshoot it.
Known concerns from the client: I’m a little worried about getting a bunch of spam emails through the contact form, so hopefully, there is a way to stop that.
Things the client specifically does NOT want: I definitely do not want a blog—I won’t have time to update it. Also, please avoid complex, dizzying animations or a cluttered layout. Keep it simple and straightforward.
